Why this exists

Most directories are stale, paid-for, or both.

If you've ever turned up to a "weekly" market and found an empty car park, you'll know the problem. UK farmers market info is scattered across Facebook events, council pages that haven't been touched since 2019, and tourism sites that don't know if a market is on this Sunday.

We're fixing that. Markets and stallholders can claim their listings — for free — and keep their dates and details accurate. Anyone can search by postcode and see what's near them this weekend.

Real producers, accurate dates, no signup wall. Our north star — the only test we apply to every feature.

For visitors

Find a market in three taps.

Search by postcode

Type your postcode and a radius. We use Postcodes.io and proper spatial queries, so distances are real, not approximate.

Map & list view

Pins cluster by zoom level. Click any market to see its next dates, organiser, and which stalls regularly attend.

Trustworthy dates

Markets-claimed listings are kept current by the people running them. Everything else is reviewed before it goes live.

For organisers & stallholders

Claim your listing — free, forever.

If you run a market or trade as a stallholder, claiming your listing takes a minute. We send a one-click confirmation email; once admin reviews (usually same-day), you can update dates, descriptions, social links, and contact details directly from your own dashboard.

Run a market or stall? Take it over.

Claim your listing to keep dates, descriptions, and stall lineups accurate. We never charge to be listed.

FAQs

Frequently asked

🔍 For visitors 4
Are dates reliable?
For claimed markets, dates come direct from the organiser. For unclaimed markets we cross-check against organiser websites, council "what's on" pages, and council Facebook events; rarely we'll mark an occurrence as "tentative" if we can't confirm. Always worth checking the organiser's own site before a long drive.
Why doesn't a market I know appear?
We're seeded with marquee markets and growing from there. Suggest one — we review every submission within a week.
Do you have an app?
No app yet, but the site is mobile-first and works offline-friendly with proper caching. Add it to your home screen for an app-feel.
How do I save a market for later?
Bookmark the page or share the URL — every market has a permanent address. Coming soon: signed-in user favourites.
👫 For organisers 4
How do I claim my market?
Find your market via search, click "Claim this listing", and enter your email — ideally one matching your market's website domain. We send a one-click confirmation link, then admin reviews to prevent listing hijacking. Once approved you'll get an editing dashboard at /me.
Can I add a brand-new market?
Yes. Use Suggest a market with as much detail as you have. We'll add it then send you the claim link so you can take it over.
Will you charge in future?
Base listings stay free. Down the road we may add an optional "featured" tier (£) and lightweight ad spots, but the core directory will always be free for organisers and visitors.
Can I list pitch pricing publicly?
Yes — many organisers do (it saves stallholder enquiries). On your organiser page there's a pricing table you can fill in.
🌿 For stallholders 3
How do I get my business listed?
Suggest yourself (or ask a market organiser to add you to their roster). Once on the site, you can claim your stallholder profile the same way as a market — one-click email confirmation, brief admin review.
What about my data & GDPR?
We treat stallholder details as personal data. You can request takedown at any time via your dashboard or by emailing us — we'll hide your profile from the public site without removing your historical link to markets you've attended.
Can I link my products / shop?
Yes. Your profile supports website, Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter URLs — visitors land on your site direct from any market page where you're regular.
⚙️ Technical & trust 3
Do you track visitors?
Only with explicit consent (the cookie banner). Even then we use self-hosted analytics with daily-rotating salted hashes — no IP storage, no third-party trackers, no Google Analytics.
How do I report a wrong date or listing?
Use the contact form or email hello@farmers-market.org.uk. We aim to action corrections within 48 hours.
Can I use your data?
Get in touch — we're happy to share with academics, food-policy researchers, and tourism boards. Commercial requests are case-by-case.
No FAQs match that search.
